Riverrun House is a contemporary woodland residence located on the banks of the River Pont in Northumberland. Designed by Rejen Architects for a sensitive riverside site, the home embraces its natural setting through careful massing, materiality, and environmental strategy.

The house is conceived as a series of low-slung, interconnected pavilions, stepping gently with the terrain to reduce visual impact. The L-shaped layout frames a formal arrival courtyard and opens up to river and garden views, with a central glass link connecting the two main wings. Expansive glazing and double-height volumes enhance the sense of light and space while maintaining a calm, intimate atmosphere.

Materials were chosen to harmonise with the surroundings — timber and stone cladding, slate roofing, and finely detailed black-framed glazing contribute to a timeless yet contemporary feel. Integrated terraces and outdoor spaces encourage strong indoor-outdoor living, while extensive planting helps the house blend into its woodland context.

A biodiversity-led landscape strategy includes a wildlife corridor and new native tree planting to enhance habitat, reduce visual impact, and support long-term ecological health.
