Saintfield House is a contemporary rural home that reinterprets the traditional Irish farmstead through thoughtful massing, materiality, and site integration. Located in the County Down countryside near Rowallane Gardens, the home was delivered as a PPS21 off-site replacement dwelling — sensitively positioned 300m from the original house to optimise privacy, views, and topography.

Designed as three linear volumes in a radial configuration, the house reflects vernacular agricultural layouts while delivering modern, light-filled interiors. The main volumes are subtly splayed to respond to the terrain, with expansive west-facing glazing opening onto a private patio and garden. Upstairs, bedrooms frame varied countryside views, with the master suite positioned for panoramic vistas.

The home was constructed using a sustainable timber frame, with stained larch cladding, painted render, and a corrugated fibre cement roof referencing rural building traditions. A sweeping access road enhances the arrival experience while maintaining visual simplicity in the landscape.
