Following Rob’s successful role in the repositioning of Pearl Assurance House, Rejen Architects was appointed by Carlisle Inns Ltd to deliver the fit-out of the prominent corner retail unit for Northern Ireland’s first Black Sheep Coffee outlet. Located within a Grade A-listed Edwardian landmark, the project required careful coordination with heritage authorities and design precision to balance branding needs with conservation responsibilities.

We engaged early with the Historic Environment Division (HED) to address key aspects of the fit-out — including sensitive integration of services and discreet signage installation on the listed stone façade. Our expertise in retail fit-outs within listed commercial buildings enabled us to guide both client and contractor through the approvals process and on-site delivery.

Completed in February 2025, the project demonstrates how modern retail brands can be successfully integrated into heritage environments — enhancing commercial use while protecting architectural character.
