Join a Studio with Purpose – and Help Shape Its Future
Are you a senior or experienced architect ready to step into a studio leadership role – someone trusted to run projects, lead teams, and work closely with a director to help grow a design-focused practice?
At Rejen Architects, our purpose is to create healthier, more vibrant, and sustainable places by breathing new life into buildings and places. We specialise in heritage, hospitality, and regeneration projects that are design-led, commercially intelligent, and socially meaningful.
We’re now seeking a Senior Architect / Associate-Designate to join our growing studio in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter. This is a pivotal role – effectively a right-hand person to the Director – with real responsibility, influence, and a clear opportunity to shape both projects and the future direction of the practice.
The Role
This is not a conventional senior architect position. You will play a central role in the leadership, delivery, and growth of the studio.
You will:
• Lead the delivery of complex, design-led projects across heritage, hospitality, regeneration, healthcare, and residential sectors.
• Act as project lead on key commissions across Ireland and the UK, from early concept through planning and on to site.
• Manage and mentor architects and assistants, helping set design, technical, and delivery standards within the studio.
• Work closely with the Director as a trusted collaborator, contributing to design direction, resourcing, and studio operations.
• Represent Rejen at client meetings, consultant workshops, and site inspections.
• Support the ongoing growth of the practice, including business development, reputation building, and thought leadership activity.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, values autonomy, and wants to help build a practice, not just work within one.
Why Join Rejen?
You might recognise some of these…
• You’re operating at a senior level but want greater influence, trust, and autonomy.
• You’re ready to step into an Associate-level role, without waiting years for the opportunity.
• You want to work on unique, meaningful projects, not repetitive or formulaic schemes.
• You’re passionate about heritage and adaptive reuse, but don’t want to be pigeon-holed.
• You want to be part of a small, ambitious, purpose-driven studio with am where your contribution genuinely matters.
• You may be based in GB or ROI and considering a move back to NI – perhaps for family reasons – but only for the right long-term opportunity.
• You like the idea of working in the Cathedral Quarter, surrounded by culture, creativity, and energy.
• You value benefits aligned with your values, including our EV salary sacrifice scheme, alongside a performance-related bonus that rewards contribution and impact.
Or perhaps you’re simply ready for the next chapter: leading projects, shaping teams, and helping grow a practice with ambition and purpose.
Who We’re Looking For
• ARB / RIBA or RIAI registered, with a minimum of 5 years post-Part 3 experience (or equivalent).
• Proven experience leading projects through planning, technical design, and delivery.
• Strong design judgement, particularly within heritage contexts and contemporary interventions.
• Confident communicator with clear leadership and mentoring ability.
• Commercially aware, proactive, and comfortable taking responsibility.
• Collaborative and motivated by the opportunity to help grow a practice and its people.
• Full driving license and willingness to travel across Ireland and the UK.
Ready to Apply?
If you’re excited by the opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a fast-growing, design-focused practice – and to help shape its future – we’d love to hear from you.
