Galgorm Castle, one of Ireland’s most important Jacobean buildings, lies at the heart of a 430-acre estate of woodland, riverside paths, and historic farmland. In 2024, Galgorm Collection acquired the estate with a bold vision: to create a world-class 5-star hotel destination that blends history, landscape, and luxury hospitality.

Rejen helped us unlock the potential of the Castle with bold, sensitive design and strategic engagement with planning and heritage authorities.

Rejen Architects was appointed to lead the full architectural and conservation strategy for the transformation — including the adaptive reuse of the castle and outbuildings into luxury accommodation, a new signature restaurant beside the walled garden, and the restoration of a ruined 18th-century chapel as a community and interpretive space.

Our Approach

Our approach began with rigorous historical research to uncover the estate’s cultural and architectural significance. Working in close collaboration with Historic Environment Division (HED) architects and archaeologists, we helped define clear parameters for reuse, guiding design development and heritage applications. The project demonstrates our expertise in conservation-led hotel design within scheduled monuments and listed estates. This landmark regeneration is being advanced through listed building and scheduled monument consents.
